LOWDEN HISTORICAL SOCIETY, LIBRARY AWARDED CHARITY GRANT

WHEATLAND (IOWA) Lowden Historical Society and Lowden Public Library are the recipients of a $250 Iowa Network Services (INS) Charity Grant, plus a $250 matching contribution from F&B Communications, the local telecommunications provider in Lowden.

The grant funds will be used by the Historical Society to aid in the purchase of a microfilm reader and printer that will be located at the Lowden Public Library. The new unit will make nearly 100 years of community newspapers and records more accessible to the public.

“With a microfilm printer on site, copies of historical documents can be easily reproduced,” said Aaron Horman, F&B Communications marketing manager. “The printer will enhance the library’s offering and provide convenient access to these documents.”

F&B Communications is one of 127 Iowa independent telephone company member-owners of INS, which helps to provide advanced telecommunications and data services across the state. INS established the grant program to bring INS closer to its member companies and customers.

Since the grant program was established in 1992, more than $10,000 has been awarded to organizations in the F&B Communications service area.

The charity grant program is open to non-profit organizations in the F&B Communications service area. Grant applications are available at the business office in Wheatland. Charity grants are awarded on a quarterly basis.
